Another rant here...I have a McDonald's only 1/4mile from my home. I pass it on my way to work, I pass it on my way home from work, and usually when I run out for errands. EVERY time I pass by this McDonald's, they drive thru is full. It can be at 5:30am, 12pm, or 9pm...doesn't matter.
Have you ever watched the movie Super Size Me? I watched it once and since then have ate McDonald's 3 times, and two of those times were for a breakfast sandwich when I was traveling for work and had no other choice than starving. There is really nothing on the menu that can be considered healthy, although they make things appear to be healthy all the time. Take for instance a grilled chicken sandwich. Yeah, a piece of grilled chicken is healthy, but what about when you add cheese and sauce to it? Those two can add hundreds of calories and dozens of grams of fat and bring the health level of that sandwich down considerably. And the salads! Don't get me started on them. Do you know a grilled chicken caesar salad from Chili's has over 1,000 calories? Cheese and dressing people.
So, back to my rant topic. Is it just me that looks around and sees that well over 50% of the people in this country are overweight, and that many of the "ideal" weight people are still unhealthy but luckily have great genes or super high metabolism that keeps their figures in check? I mean, how many people can run a mile without gasping for air? 1/2 mile? 1/4 mile?
Before you go thinking I'm crude about this, let it be known that at one time I was one of those overweight fools that found the drive through so pleasing to mind and body. The feeling of a quarter pounder with cheese sliding down my throat was so satisfying, and way too frequent. After watching Super Size Me I quit eating fast food except for an occasional Taco Bell visit (far better than burgers and fries), and quickly found my energy level increasing along with my weight dropping. The next step was to give up soda(now only water), which yielded another 10lbs seemingly overnight, add in a little exercise and what do ya know, I'm back to a healthy person again. It's that easy people!!!! Give up the crap food and soda, start going for walks instead of watching TV, and you WILL feel a difference.
